On July 16, the Fur Branch of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of By-Products held its general meeting in Haining, China.
A milestone in the organization's history
Organizers billed the gathering – a meeting of China's leading fur traders – as "a family meeting." Ruspushnina auction house was honored with an invitation as a guest of distinction.
The meeting's central agenda item was the handover of the Branch's leadership. A retrospective presented to attendees traced the remarkable progress our Chinese colleagues have made in expanding their international reach.
Sable fur craft: A bridge between the peoples of Russia and China
Ruspushnina, for its part, took the opportunity to thank our colleagues for its work.
The occasion also served as a platform for introducing Chinese colleagues to Russian suppliers' goods. The presentation outlined the defining qualities of sable pelts as a raw material, and underscored how vital their sale is to preserving the traditional livelihoods of thousands of trappers across Russia.
The presentation was warmly received. Chinese fur traders took particular interest in learning that many of the sable pelts sold at auction come from suppliers belonging to Russia's indigenous peoples – many of whom share ethnic and linguistic kinship with the peoples of China through the common Manchu-Tungusic family of languages.

At the closing dinner, in a more relaxed setting, select manufacturers from Haining were presented with special certificates of recognition – a tradition we look forward to continuing.
The gathering was a testament to the unity among Chinese manufacturers – proof that the event's informal "family" moniker, was far more than a nice turn of phrase.
